Virgil yesterday at BP

hey,
Went to BP yesterday to see Virg's band and was [img]eek.gif[/img] all the way through.I knew he was a monster by watching vids and stuff,but nothing equals the live situation.Besides his great technique,i was totally blown by his use of dynamics.That was something...
funny i went to see DW in Paris,and when i stepped in the BP i spotted S.Weingart on keys,and G.Meek on sax and went:'oops,think i came the wrong day!'.
Virg is a sweet fellow and i got to talk to him for a while.Can you imagine the guy's been playing drums for 40 years??
I asked him if things were doing well since he moved to L.A,he said yes and that his next album with this band,will feature Allan Holdswoth on guitar [img]eek.gif[/img] .so how 'bout that guys?

Another fine story is, they played 'humpty dumpty'towards the end of the show,and when the show was done,Virgil came up to me and i went like:
me:that was humpty dumpty right?
Virg:yeah.
Me;love that tune man.funny i watched the blue note dvd with Vinnie a couple of days ago(which was true),and have actually never heard it play by someone else.
Virg:is it a bootleg or an official dvd?
Me:i got it on ebay you know(i was embarassed)...
Virg;Yeah....Vinnie is a monster (high pitched voice of his) man.
Me:There's one too many in this town pal!
Virg:laughs.

great cat,amazing drummer,very humbleand true.He should get some rest tho',he looked exhausted,and he had bags under his eyes that spoke for it.

Thank's DrumAddix for the review. Yeah the guy goes nonstop but he stay's in incredible shape, probably could not do what he does with the energy he bring's if he did not stay very fit. He play's with dynamics WOW! I bet that shock's some people [img]wink.gif[/img] Yeah according to Derek Sherinian there is a good chance Allan will be touring with Planet X after the new album comes out. They have been offered a spot at the Montreal Jazz fest, cannot wait to hear the Jazzer's going WHAT! Planet X, Virg and Allan at a Jazz fest, what is this world coming to. suspiria-IT IS a success so far and there's more to come.Check this out:tomorrow i have a lesson with erskoman himself!!!
What about that huh?
I'm all shakey already and really don't know what to expect.It's the scariest musical experience of my life so far,but i know i'm gonna get a lot ouf of it.
